To Turn To Darkness

As I lay awake in bed,
Thinking of trying to close my eyes,
My thoughts kept interrupting me.
Invoking the monster inside.

My eyes swished and turned inside out.
The white to red and darkness to clarity.
As the demon inside me lay in slumber not too long.
To awaken to a nightmare of someone's making.

Come crawling to me, o man of power.
Come be my puppet, on the strings I sew.
Let my fiend pass unto you in the sleep you so desire.
And commit blasphemy as I rip your soul asunder.

I hear the voice calling to me from the night.
It's calling me to the end of my road.
It calls my name clearly like it knows me.
It wants me, and into it my seed I must now sow.

As the shadow crawls out from under my bed,
My mind swings, my head creaks and my body tumbles.
Wake up my minstrel, my marionette, the mind I inhabit.
And let us together show the world; they shall reap what they shall sow.

Spill the ink pot,
On your face.
Get covered with the hue.
Tug at the strings,
And increase the pace-
Amputate your limbs.

I don't know why but this poem instantly reminded me of "The Second Coming" by W.B.Yeats. Probably it's the way I saw it.
Beautiful. It would be a lovely beginning to "The Second Coming" without seeming out of place!
I absolutely loved it!

I definitely have failed to comprehend the instincts behind this poem.

But the composition is outstanding, anyway.

I wish you success in every such weird endeavour you make.

@Sayak :
And as the blood flows invisibly,
Free yourself from the strings that bind.
Only to wallow in the grief of ruin.
Only to die in the loneliness of withering.

@Antara : The Second Coming does speak of similar events but it's an amazing compliment that you compare my poem with that of Yeats' and say what you have. Thank you so much. :D

@Enchanta : It is inspired from the music I listen to and also from something deep within me.
There will loads of such weird endeavours and I thank you for wishing me for their flourishment! :D

I have to write a comment like Enchanta. :D
I didn't grasp the inner meaning but I loved the wordplay nonetheless. :-)

Reading this reminded me of a monologue that I had liked while I was playing this game Call of Juarez...I found it on time before posting it here. :)
it's by Reverand Ray... though not very remotely related to this, but how the little devil tends to take control of us when we are weak...

Lord, is that what you want from me?
To be your sword?
I've spent twenty years preaching to hyenas and wolves, but maybe there are
some who are beyond redemption. Is that what you're telling me Lord? To
destroy those who cannot be saved? If that is what you want, then that is how
I will serve you.
'And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes: and they
shall know that I am Jehovah, when I lay me punishment upon them!'"

Cheers,
Blasphemous Aesthete

@Sammy : :D
In a nutshell, it's about turning evil and the beginning to act on it. The man sees and his imagination speaks to him in the poem.
I'm glad you liked it nonetheless. :D

@Blasphemous Aesthete : The Call of Juarez was an outstanding game, even though I didn't have the time to finish it. Now I surely will!

@SIS : In that case, that's enough appreciation, I reckon! :D

@Paulami : I may go as far as to call it the prequel to The Darkness Within.

@Vyankatesh : Thank you. Will certainly check it out. :)

@Lioness : I'm no painter. I just have a good eye for them. I couldn't find the name of the person who painted it, or the name of the painting. But yeah, I agree. It's a good piece of art.

Too much of ignorant happiness can negate the understanding of such things.
Maybe, that's why pain is mandatory.

I realize what I had failed to comprehend the last time I had commented.

D2 said...

@Enchanta : Pain isn't necessary to understand these sort of emotions. You're absolutely wrong. I felt no pain when I wrote this. I felt only detachment.
